WHO said Covid-19 is asymptomatic,

is a LIAR! Even these beastly Chinese herbs could not stop the symptoms. 

I had every symptom on the Covid-19 infection list.

 This "cooling" Chinese remedy should have cured the throat but I still ended up at the hospital emergency room for treatment. 

Survived on soups and lost 6 pounds.

But I managed to go to the polls and get my vote in. 

It has been a chaotic many months which started when my laptop "crashed." My old faithful could not be resurrected) and after getting a new one, I could not sign into blogger for a few weeks. Then, blogger registered me as "Beau Bo" in all my comments and still does! 

Covid-19 visited me for a week, my bicycle tyres "pancit" (went flat), the back blinking lights just fell off. Thory had to visit the vet as it appears he has only one "ball," the other one is stuck inside. Savvy Girl got a new job and was crying at lunch and dinner times and not with JOY. 

 So, blogger friends, I apologise for not visiting your posts these few months. But now that I have found a new purpose in life, I will return in between the sitting and snacking.

“SAGA” OF COVID-19

 

Malaysians are finally breathing a sigh of relief, but with our masks on. 

We are fully into our National Recovery Plan after ONE year, SIX months and SIXTEEN days of Movement Control Order. I can sense the difference - traffic jams are actually happening (!) and kids are returning to school for the real educational experience.

December 31^st 2019: Wuhan Municipal Health Commission informed WHO of a cluster of pneumonia cases of unknown origins.

January 7^th 2020: The culprit was temporarily named “2019-nCoV”, later renamed COVID-19 (CO = Corona; VI = Virus; D = disease; 19 = 2019).January 30^th 2020: WHO declared Covid-19 a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

February 11^th 2020: The disease was named SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). COVID-19 is genetically related to the SARS virus in 2003 but different in some characteristics, much like siblings in the same family who are genetically related but possess different traits.March 11^th 2020: WHO declared the Covid-19 outbreak a GLOBAL pandemic.

March 18^th 2020: Malaysia went into lock down.December 11th 2020: FDA granted Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer vaccine.April 2021: Molnupiravir, an ORAL anti-viral pill reported to half the chances of dying or hospitalisation in severe Covid-19 cases was announced.  Mode of action - introduces errors into the viral genetic code.

 

The pandemic has robbed us of many things - but NOT our kindness and responsibility to look after our communities.

I watched "High School Musical" a zillion times with Savvy K! It was excruciating. But, If there is one thing I learnt from the movie, it was the lyrics of their song:

"Together... we're there for

Each other every time

Together... together...

C'mon let's do this right."

THE HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET

 Nope, this is NOT a HORROR house. The house at the end of my street is a city house built in a “kampong-style” (traditional Malay) architecture.

 It is really the last house

 with a rubber plantation behind. 

The main part of the house is built from bricks with a wooden fence to give it that rustic "kampung" feel and

it has this beautiful quaint wooden carved “kampong” balcony with

wind chimes.GOOD MORNING, 

someone has had their morning shower!

The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden with pops of many colours.  

This mauve Ipomoea or commonly morning glory brazenly climbs over the fence like it owns the place.

A wooden side gate with an over-hanging crop of orange and yellow blooms. 

This is the Phanera kockiana, a legume named after H.D. de Kock, the Vice Governor General of the Dutch East Indies. Hence, the common name - Kock's Bauhina.

  

But, in sad contrast to this living "kampung" house, the pandemic has resulted in many properties up "for sale" or "to let." 

Recently, we have houses whose occupants have put up white flags. 

as a sign that HELP is needed. It is not a government initiative. It started on social media and went "viral" overnight. "Fly the white flag" tag spread faster than covid-19. 

Thoughtful Malaysians responded immediately.  

This is very sad. Lockdown is staying home. But a lockdown for some means no wages and food. 

Responsible Malaysians do their bit.

Some set up "cupboards of blessing" outside their homes, 

food banks and free cooked packed meals.

🥰 Sometimes adversity brings out the worse in people as we compete for limited resources where demand exceeds supply But, this Covid-19 pandemic has brought out the good in mankind.
