ARCHULETA ROCKED MALAYSIA

HELLO, DOES ANYONE REMEMBER DAVID ARCHULETA?
I NEVER FORGOT!
On a scorching April 12th afternoon, I rubbed shoulders with screaming teeny boppers. It was an unforgettable goosebumps, hair-raising experience.
With the Sunway Lagoon amphitheatre bursting with "I love David" fans, I felt like I was in an alternate Universe.
David Archuleta, the American Idol runner-up for 2008, had arrived in town.
We heard about nothing else but David A for months from my daughter, Savvy K. If there had been an examination on "The History of David Archuleta," she would have scored a High Distinction.
DA was Savvy K's first pop concert. She was only 12, and being the responsible mother, I accompanied her.
DA was then a Mormon teen with a charming personality.
The concert scheduled to start at 3pm, had DA storming the stage only at 4.30pm. By then, the crowd was impatient and sweaty. YIKES! Their screams could have caused another tsunami. They waved their posters, "Janice loves David, Mrs Archuleta is here, This Girl crushes on David."

These boppers knew every song. He played the key board, they screamed along. He asked questions, they screamed again! ALL they did was SCREAM!

But, it was pure magic. An eighteen-year old American from Utah united 6000 Malaysians of different races and religions

including some very harassed perplexed MUMS and DADS.

The things we do for our children. Yet I find I am still at constant loggerheads with Savvy K over dressing ("Are you going out IN that?"), makeup ("Are you going out LIKE that?") and friends ("Are you going out WITH them?"). Ahh, maybe the above does explain it all.

  2. I am with David. As for that final statement, sometimes I wonder what my parents would say about our current world. I am pretty sure that they would NOT be complimentary...

    1. Well said, I think my parents would not be able to handle this current world. They already were aghast during my time with mini skirts and bell bottoms.

  4. wow, totally remember him - i liked his songs - such a talented guy. I enjoyed reading about the teens and their screaming and love for him. How fun - and nice u accompanied your little girl at the time. Wow he's grown up.. I was raised in the 50 and 60's...my kids were raised very different than I was. It feels as if my kids generation was the last generation to play outside until dark or even after dark, get dirty, and just use plain soap - not the antibacterial kind. They did have computers but no cellphones and of course they had nintendo but nothing like now.

    1. TQ Sandy, I am glad some one does remember DA. Those days of good outdoor fun will never return. Playing outdoors on their own even in daylight is a big No NO now, what abt predators and traffic. Ya, we never had antibacterial soaps and wipes, one soap for body, legs and face!

    1. TQ, another that remembers. When I posted this, I wondered how many would remember DA. I liked his personality, how the Westerners would say "boy next door" look, not the heavy metal type! He also did have a melodious voice

  6. Completely agree on the final quote, Kestrel!
I was interested in your post, although I have never heard of David Archuleta.
Have a great week ahead of you ☀️

    1. My parents thought my generation was too different from theirs. But, I think the generation of the Gen Y and beyond has catapulted time. I am still grappling with much of their behaviour and culture (?).

    2. ... I am afraid many millennials give many things for granted.

  7. Hahahahaha, honestly I don't know who this guy is :p, but your descriptions about 'the crazyness' of those fans, remind me when i was at that young 🤣.

Mungkin nanti saat anak-anak saya sudah sedikit lebih besar, mulai suka dengan Idols, baru akan merasakan semua kekuatiran dengan pakaian , make up dll nya :D

  9. I have no idea about him until I read your blog, and it's a wonder to see so many teens being crazy about him. Your photos represent their celebration and sound quite noisily! I agree with the last statement, and today's parents are very friendly with children and understand the importance of accompanying safely to such concerts instead of denying completely.

    1. Such wise words Jeevan. My parents would have NEVER allowed me to attend such a concert. They would have probably grounded me for even bringing such a subject up. But, what worked for our parents ain't never gonna work for today's generations. So we have to evolve too.

    1. Haha, Archulatta was not a really huge pop star Luiz. He made it to second place in American Idol but he did appeal to the young gals aged 12 - 15 years

    1. Concert was loud and it was an experience watching the young fans getting so excited. It made me glad that these young girls were just so really happy at this stage of their lives.
