Behind every CHILD who believes in him/herself

is a MOTHER who believed first.

Savvy K's card for me. She made me into a Martian Mum.

I guess I deserve it for calling her Martian Girl in my blog 10 years back. It is pay-back time!

Ever told your child
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste
Not see his sorrow
Just for this morning, I will not rush you out from bed to take your meds,
I will let you sleep in and enjoy your dreams.
Just for this morning, I will not be Gossip Queen, I will sit and eat brunch or lunch with you.
Just for this afternoon, I will turn off Netflix and listen to your online sales and fashion.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell to tidy your room, I will sit with you and watch one of your horror movies.
Just for this evening, I will not nag about finishing your vegetables, I will let you be yourself, a carnivore.
Just for tonight, I will not worry about what you will be,
I will let you choose and have fun along the way.And for everyday I thank God for the most precious gift he has given me,
TO be a MOTHER.
To all women who are Mothers to children, nephews, nieces and pets,
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

BELATED MOTHER'S DAY

MOTHER'S DAY in Malaysia is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, 9.5 this year. OK, this post is way late but with Movement Control Order 3.0 (partial lockdown) imposed on 6.5, I should be forgiven. I had to run off to a friend's place to stay a couple of days to just chill before I start another routine of Cook, Cook, Cook. Mother Hubbard at her cupboard.

Kim has really thoughtful children. Not a year goes by without gifts on Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Birthdays. Her children are all working far from home, but they never fail to remember their mum.
Her daughter in Penang sent an "anypow" (red packet with money) and some crochet dolls and dresses she made. A really unusual and making something oneself for a gift is truly a gift from the H♥eart.
Her son and his girlfriend in Singapore sent a cake with fruit tarts
and a bouquet of broccoli. Kim receives a cake for every occasion from Singapore. I sometimes wonder how she stays so slim.
Yeah, during lockdown, broccoli is more valuable than flowers.
Ha... another thoughtful Mother's Day gift. This would have kept mummy and papa safe and indoors for at least one week.

My neighbour is a Supermum as she holds a full-time job plus taking care of 1 kid and 2 teenagers. Her 10-year-old daughter made her breakfast in bed. She woke up at 6am to prepare breakfast while the two teenage boys slept through. She tried to get her brothers to help, but the teens were hanging out of their beds "dead" to the world.
And from my Savvy K who daily pushes her borders and drives me up the wall.

Behind every child who believes in him/herself is a mother who believed first.

💕 THANK YOU COOKIES 😘

After an awesome Mother’s Day with a pressie from Savvy K and “crabby” dinner cooked by Gizmo Man, I baked a batch of chop chip cookies for them. This is the second time I am baking this year and I have already reached my quota for baking in a year! My baking skills are close to zero, but after a little success with Savvy K’s birthday cake, I am slightly more confident that my cookies won’ t be given to Typhoon Thory or Belle.

The cookies turned out OK I guess. Savvy K finished half her jar in one sitting while working. The cookies were divided into 2 jars, one for each of them. But they will still pilfer from each other’s jars. And guess who they blame for missing cookies … Thypoon Thory.

BANSI COCONUT MUD CRABS – GISMO MAN GETS CREATIVE

Gismo Man is definitely an alpha male (now you know where Typhoon Thory picked up his traits). But during blue moons, his gamma male characteristics emerges. A blue moon emerged on the eve of Mother’s Day!! Didn't any of you noticed, or was it only my family?

He was fussing around the kitchen yesterday checking stuff. I presumed he was in one of his “throw away all the past expiry date stuff” which I have a bad habit of keeping. Then, early Sunday morning he insisted on going to a particular supermarket for groceries. Aeon is always crowded during this Conditional Movement Control Order period. Just waiting to get in takes at least 30 minutes, minus the time for scanning QC code, filling in personal particulars and taking temperature. Nevertheless, he went on his own and returned home with a wide variety of spices – cumin, sweet cumin, cloves, cardamom, mustard seeds, grated coconut, coriander, ginger, chilli and garlic powder. It was mind-boggling.

Note, Gizmo man even downloaded a a recipe on his hand phone.

Then a packet of mud crabs emerged from the shopping bag. Ohh .. heavenly CRABS .… my favourite. What more can a Girl ask for?

I am sometimes allergic to seafood and end up at the emergency department for intravenous injections and saline drips. But I am quite used to these hospital visits for preservative poisoning since I cannot resist these delectable crustaceans. They are to DIE for - opps ... sorry for the weak pun.

So, Gizmo man really spent the entire afternoon mixing,

chopping, frying - a good work out. Note, the daily temperatures in Malaysia are around 30 degrees C. It was 31 degrees this afternoon

Gizmo man cooked an entire dinner – coconut crabs, stir-fry cauliflower and “capati” (Indian bread). I only made the raita (yoghurt with cucumber and onions).

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY from Savvy K

Savvy K gave this to me at 2 am when I went to the kitchen to get a drink of water.
It is already Sunday 10th May in Malaysia.

She got a nice photo of both of us on holiday last year. I am glad we went for a good 10-day trip with lots of bonding, eating and of course arguing all the way. It will be some time before we take another trip overseas with the current situation of limited international travel. We'll have to go for “Cuti-cuti Malaysia” (Holidays in Malaysia) for the time being.

I hope she remembers this when I am 80 years-old. I will keep this card carefully in case she forgets.

She chose a sleeping fawn as Savvy K is a “sleeping beauty” in her spare time. Inside are real natural flowers (red carnation) that have been treated with chemical processes/special dying techniques that will last for 2 years.

Came with batteries and lights included.

We will visit when the time is safe

ORCHIDS FOR MOTHERS

MartianGirl's home-made card for me. She specially made me into a MartianMum. I guess I deserved it for naming her MartianGirl in my blog, pay-back time!
FOR ALL MOTHERS - MAY GOD BLESS AND THE ANGELS GUIDE YOU
Ever told your child
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste
Not see his sorrow
Just for this morning, I will not rush you out from bed, I will let you sleep in and enjoy your dreams.
Just for this morning, I will not go for my walk, I will make your favourite bacon sandwich and sit with you to eat.
Just for this afternoon, I will turn off my computer and listen to your stories about teachers and school.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell to finish your homework, I will sit with you and watch one of your girlish movies.
Just for this evening, I will not nag you about finishing your rice and vegetables, I will let you have your favourite cheese burger.
Just for this evening, I will not worry about what you will be, I will let you choose and have fun along the way. Just for tonight, I will forget about my work and tell you stories about daddy and me and how much we love you.
Just for tonight, I will snuggle beside you, and thank God for the most precious gift he has ever given me.
When we run so fast
To get some where,
We miss half the fun
Of getting there.
When we worry and hurry
To get through our day,
Life is like an unopened gift
Thrown away.
Life is not a race
Do take it slower,
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
